Oyster Bar “La Docena”

In Architecture & Design by Isabella Moreno

La Docena Oyster Bar & Grill  was founded in Guadalajara in 2012 and initiated the history of these restaurants with the arrival of Claudio Javelly to his hometown of Guadalajara after having visited the New Orleans oyster bars and the Louisiana Cajun Kitchen. It was in this time when Alejandro de la Peña, Claudio Javelly and Chef Thomas Bermúdez got together to create this marvelous restaurant. The first La Docena opened in Guadalajara a little time later and with much success  at their spot they inaugurated the second space in Guadalajara.

It wasn’t until 2015 when they decided to conquer the great Mexico City. This restaurant situated itself immediately among the places you must visit in Mexico City and especially in the gastronomic and cultural center of the city: La Roma, the most active district. The concept is to offer the best products of the Pacific coast, with an irresistible freshness so it comes as no surprise that the oysters and clams are their most famous dish. The wonderful thing about La Docena is that you can find an array of offerings, from fresh seafood of the Pacific to premium quality meat, or even the classic Po’Boy; which are seafood sandwiches inside a delicious baguette with amazing sauces that deliver a unique palate experience.

In a short time, La Docena has become one of the favorite places for Mexico City residents, as well as visitors from all over the world and especially the jaliscienses (people from Guadalajara), since the service and quality that distinguishes in that city continues impeccably in Mexico City.
