One of the most beautiful things in the universe are flowers, and Polen has found a way to turn them into something even more beautiful: the conceptualization and decoration of the most spectacular events made with flowers, foliage and plants that in combination are a visual delight for anyone lucky enough to witness it. We spoke with Daniela D´Harcourt, creator of this magnificent company that makes the dreams of many people come true, and this is what she told us.
How does Polen Flores y Eventos arise?
I never imagined that Pollen would be what it is today. It was a very quick process and the learning journey was very fast. It all started in 2016 at my house making arrangements for my friends. One day a friend asked me to decorate her wedding, and from that day on the recommendations and brides began to arrive. I went from the kitchen of my house to a mini office and now we are more than 40 people in the Polen family, doing up to 3 events a day, between weddings, corporate events, baptisms and graduations.
How is your creative process when holding an event?
I always like to first talk with the clients so that they can give me a broad outline of what they envision for their event; from this on we make a presentation with photos, color palette and concept. When hiring our floral decoration service we always give you the project so that it has an integral look, we support clients step by step in the process and advise them on what they need. I really like to take advantage of what the venue gives us and complement with flowers, accessories, lighting and some furniture.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The best thing that can happen to me is to exceed the expectations of the brides and that when they enter the place, it is 1000 times better than what they dreamed of. I always give them a surprise of something they wanted but took away, or something that I know they will love, but what I like the most is that we become friends.
What is the tip or advice that you always give to your clients?
Specifically talking about brides, I always tell them that doing a wedding or an event is a whole process that involves many emotions and many people, but the most important thing is not the decoration, nor the food or details, it is that the groom shows up at the altar hahaha, I´m joking, it is that they as a couple are going to be together and that is the only thing that really matters; there will always be unforeseen events, but marriage is forever.
How have you deal with the situation of the pandemic at work?
It was time to reinvent ourselves; it has been very difficult because weddings and events have been the most affected, but I have had the opportunity to create FLORAFLOR, an online flower shop that was a project that I had postponed due to lack of time. I am super happy to be able to give customers an option with novel and divine designs at affordable prices. I am in love with each and every one of the arrangements, and soon we will add a gifts section where we will include flowers with scented candles. For any order you can visit polenfloresdf.com.
What do you like most about being a Mexican company?
I love Mexican people; the talent, charisma and dedication that all florists have is impressive. I have never met people with such love for their work. To all of those who work in Polen I owe what the company is today, because without them none of this crazy dream would have been possible, especially to my right hand and friend Marco. On the other hand, the raw material and the variety of flowers that the Mexican countryside offers is immense, with incredible quality.
