When the sun goes down, the night heats up in Tulum. Here’s your (extended) weekend guide to the places to see and be seen in the best of Tulum nightlife.
Thursday Night: Casa Jaguar
This rustic Caribbean restaurant is known for its yummy food but even more so for its famous parties. Every Thursday, Casa Jaguar transforms into a must-attend jungle party, where DJs from all around the globe keep the party alive with hybrid music sets that beat into the early morning.
Friday Night: GITANO Tulum
GITANO Jungle is the place to be on Friday night. Located off Tulum Beach Road, you can’t miss the iconic pink neon sign and giant disco ball peeking out from the lush jungle. Enjoy a selection of over 50 Mezcals and signature hand-made cocktails that use locally-grown seasonal fruits and herbs at the bar, while dinner is an interactive, shared dining experience that features local ingredients prepared in traditional methods. As dinner turns into dancing, kick off your shoes and enjoy GITANO’s Jungle Room; a space meant for fun and free expression–all set against colonial-inspired architecture tucked into an eons-old jungle.
Saturday Night: Papaya Playa Project
Cocooned by the jungle on a pristine stretch of the Caribbean, Papaya Playa Project sets itself apart as a communal and sustainable playground for the creatively inclined. Some of the best DJs in the world can be found spinning tunes at this hot spot. Dance until sunrise at the full moon beach party—the biggest party of the month—that happens on the Saturday closest to the full moon.
Sunday: Salsa Night at La Zebra Hotel
Put your dancing shoes on to salsa on the beach at sunset at La Zebra Hotel. Brush up your skills with a free salsa class from 4 – 5pm then put your moves to the test on the dance floor to live music from a Cuban band from 5 – 8.30pm every Sunday. Take a break to enjoy tacos, tortas, specially-prepared beers and cocktails, and more.
