New Developments Coming Soon to Riviera Nayarit

Riviera Nayarit is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary as a top destination in Mexico. With 192 miles of Pacific coastline, the destination attracts a variety of guests to experience all it has to offer. From five-star luxury resorts and chic boutique hotels to PGA golf courses, extravagant spas, adventurous excursions and more, the destination has something for everyone. The state of Nayarit includes the resort town of Nuevo Vallarta, the historic village of San Blas, the exclusive celebrity hideout of Punta Mita, the boho-chic surfing haven of Sayulita, along with quaint fishing villages, stretches of stunning beaches and the beautiful Banderas Bay.

In 2017 National Geographic named Playa del Amor one of the top 21 beaches in the world, Forbes selected Riviera Nayarit as one of the top destinations of the year and Flight Network ranked the destination as No. 4 of 22 best luxury honeymoon destinations in the world. With such success, it’s no surprise that the Riviera Nayarit has some exciting new resorts and attractions coming in the next fews years. Costa Canuva CIP

The largest development project in Riviera Nayarit is the Costa Canuva CIP, an area of 550 acres, more than four miles of beach and capital of $1.8 billion. The development is expected to add over 7,000 guestrooms throughout five new luxury hotels including the first Fairmont property in the region and the first PGA golf course co-designed by Lorena Ochoa and Greg Norman.

La Mandarina Complex

The 125-room One&Only Mandarina hotel is currently under construction with a budget of $110 million and a projected opening date of late 2018. Located in the La Mandarina development in Monteón Compostela, the development will feature 630 acres with a total investment of $870 million and will include two polo fields, an equestrian center, two obstacle courses, villas and additional hotels including a Rosewood property, slated for a 2019 opening.

Cirque du Soleil Theme Park at Grupo Vidanta

Grupo Vidanta is bringing new infrastructure to Riviera Nayarit including a golf course that was completed about one year ago, a new convention center that opened its doors on May 11 and a Cirque du Soleil theme park slated to open in 2018. This first-of-its-kind immersive theme park will include a water park and nature park as well as an outdoor evening show that will be able to accommodate 3,000 to 5,000 spectators.

The Grand Krystal in Flamingos

The Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe announced the acquisition and expansion of the Hotel Bel Air in Flamingos, which will operate under the Krystal Grand brand. This property will add 480 guestrooms and one suite in addition to a new convention center and a dozen restaurants and bars. It is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017.

The Grand Sirenis Matlali Beachfront Development

An investment of $28.5 million will be used to build the second stage of the Grand Serenis Matlali beachfront development including 140 suites that are scheduled to open in December 2017. Future development will take place on the 790 acres situated on the mountain.

 

The destination also has some projects in the early stages of development. The Marival Group has purchased land adjacent to the Marival Residences where they will open their first beachfront property. Set to open October 2018, the new luxurious property will offer incredible ocean views and unforgettable seaside experiences. Plans are also underway for a second Iberostar hotel in Litibú, Nayarit. This $80 million property will have 300 rooms and is set to begin construction soon. Grupo Brisas is currently scouting land in the Riviera Nayarit for a future Hotel Nizuc property, the luxury brand for the group who also has a location in Cancun.
